“God forbid, that is not my portion” is not a strategy.

While listening to “How understanding divorce can help your marriage” (weird topic right?) on TED Talks Daily podcast this morning I couldn’t help but think of how a simple piece of information can save people from a lifetime of turmoil and pain.

Unfortunately, ‘God forbid’ and ‘it’s not my portion’ has replaced the place of relevant information for many people, especially Christians.

“There is Coronavirus in town, better don’t go out” but guess what some people’s response is, ‘It’s not my portion in Jesus name.

“The Divorce rate is on the increase” – it’s not my portion in Jesus name.

People are losing their jobs this season”- it’s not my portion in Jesus name.

Instead, you should ask the right questions and by good observation, find out why things are the way they are.

It is true that some things are beyond your control, still, do you best to be informed on the relevant things, your job, what’s happening in the world

Note that faith is not an excuse for folly. Knowing that God can keep robbers from breaking into your apartment, should not be a license for you leave your doors open.

I hope this speaks to someone.

“God forbid, that is not my portion” is not a strategy.
